Yes, if they have a StatSync account. You can, however, set your StatSync account to "private" status. That way, nobody can see whose profiles you visit or who visits yours. That isn't much fun, but we do all we can to protect our members.
When you log in to StatSync.com, you'll see all recent visitors (from the past 24 hours) in the lower right corner of your home page. Hover over their names with your mouse to see where they're located on the map. Click on the Stats tab to see a weekly graph and additional daily stats. To see details about less recent visitors, you'll need to upgrade to a Premier account.
Yes. All visitors to your MySpace page are counted; those who don't have StatSync accounts are simply listed as "Anonymous."
StatSync can only match photos to visitors who have their own StatSync profiles. MySpace is very strict about their members' security, and we have to follow their rules. We can't identify people who don't necessarily want to be identified. We can still show you where Anonymous users are from, but we can't display a picture.
StatSync has a unique Anonymous User Tracking feature to help you identify Anonymous visitors. Click on any Anonymous user (i.e. Anon 5230820), and you can see what other StatSync profiles he/she has visited in the past. This could help you figure out who the anonymous visitor might be.
If the ID starts with "Anon" then the visitor is anonymous and we make up a random number for the rest. Otherwise, it's whatever ID they gave us when they registered their own StatSync account.
If your visitor is another StatSync member, we can tell you their StatSync user ID (and from their StatSync profile, you can get to their MySpace page). Unfortunately, people who don't have StatSync accounts are only listed as "Anonymous" users. Pretty much all we can tell you about them is what city they're from, as you can see on the map when you scroll over their Anon number. (See the above question for why.)
But if you click on any Anonymous user number (e.g. Anon 5230820), you'll get a pop-up window that shows what other StatSync profiles that user has visited in the past. This might help you figure out who it is.
This mix-up can happen if you often use different computers to view your MySpace page, such as the computers in a public library or an Internet Cafe. Make sure you log in to StatSync at least once before visiting your MySpace page on a new computer. If that doesn't work, then the computer you're using probably isn't accepting browser cookies. If it's your computer, you can turn those on by heading up to Tools, then Options in your Internet browser.
If the same person visits your MySpace page multiple times in the same 5-minute period, we only count the visit once. So two visits, 4 minutes apart are counted together, as one "continuing" visit. Even Anonymous visitors are assigned StatSync Anonymous ID numbers and can be tracked as "continuous" pageviews.
Another reason is that you might have placed the StatSync code too low in your profile page. The visitor's broswer has to process the StatSync code in order for the visit to be counted. The visitor doesn't necessarily need to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the StatSync logo, but it must be there. If your visitor is on a slow dial-up connection, and your visitor clicks on the red X button to stop the browser from processing your profile page half way through, then, yes, the visit might not be counted. Likewise, if your visitor clicks on a link that takes them off of your profile page before the browser can finish processing your profile page, then the visit might not be counted. Moving the StatSync code higher would solve that. Putting it somewhere in the About Me section of your profile usually works best .
The locator system we're connected to (www.hostip.info) works by linking a user's network, or "IP", address to a physical location. Unfortunately, it's not perfect. If the user connects through a proxy site, for example, StatSync will list the location of the proxy. And it's not unheard-of for hostip's data to be wrong. You can submit corrections at http://www.hostip.info/correct.html. If it's your location that's wrong, you can fix it under the "Account" tab.
If you connect to the Internet through a dial-up service provider, then you are assigned a different IP address every time you connect. Even if you connect through a DSL line or a cable modem, your IP address changes, just not nearly as often. Unfortunately, some Internet service providers (ISPs) are better than others when it comes to consistently assigning IP addresses to localities.
