Frequently Asked Questions About StatSync

Logging In

I can't log in. What could be wrong?

Make sure to enter your e-mail address in the first box (not your name or profile page URL) and your password in the second.

  • Passwords are case-sensitive. So, check to make sure your CAPS-lock key is off while you're typing, and that you are using the SHIFT key for any capital letters.
  • Did you mis-typed your e-mail address or password?
  • If you have more than one e-mail address, make sure it's the one you used when signing up.
  • If all else fails, submit a support ticket and we'll investigate.

I recently forgot my password. I went through the Forgot-Password procedure, and StatSync worked once right after that, but now I'm trying to log in again and it's not taking my password. Why not?

  • If your browser automatically fills in your password for you, it might be trying to use an old one. Be sure to wipe out the ***'s and type in the new password yourself. You should only have to do this once. After that, your browser should remember the new one.
  • The randomly generated password probably contains a mixture of upper and lower case letters and numbers, and password entry is case-sensitive. So, check to make sure your CAPS-lock key is off while you're typing, and that you are using the SHIFT key for any capital letters.

Setting and Changing Passwords

The registration form doesn't like the password I picked. It says "Invalid Symbols." What symbols are allowed?

Passwords must be between 6 and 16 characters long. They can be letters, numbers, and any of the following symbols: underscore (_), backslash (\), period (.), number-sign (#), exclamation point (!), percent-sign (%), caret (^), or asterisk(*).

How does the forgot-password feature work?

When you click on the "Forgot your password?" link, it takes you the full login page, which includes a box entitled "Forgot Your Password?" Enter your e-mail address there and click on the Forgot Password button. An e-mail will be sent to you with a special link back to the website. (This round-trip is to prove it's really you.) When you click on the link, StatSync will open up (probably in another window or under a new tab). That screen shows you a new, random password. By the time you see it, you are already logged in with that new password. All you have to do is write down the password for next time. Then, just click on the Home tab or the Stats tab, etc. to go where you wish. (The first thing you might want to do is click on the Account tab and change the password to something easier to remember.)

I clicked on the "Forgot your password?" link, and put in my e-mail address, but I never got any e-mail. Where is it?

If you have a spam-blocker in place, the forgot-password e-mail might be stuck in the held-mail bin. Log in to your e-mail system and tell it to white-list "support@statsync.com".

I clicked on Forgot Password again, but it assigned the same password as last time. Why?

As of Thu 27-Sep-2007, the forgot password function now remembers any password it randomly assigns and continues to use the same one for a certain period of time. (It used to generate a new password every time you refresh the page, which got quite confusing.)
